Air Force Base Petting Zoo!

During the summer, Brayden's Cub Scout pack did a special summer activity every month. The first one was their trip to the Old Mormon Fort. The next one was a hike up on Mt. Charelston, which he LOVED, but I didn't go with him, hence no pictures. But he had a blast. The last one was a trip to the "petting zoo" over on the Air Force Base. But not a petting zoo with animals, nope! It was a "petting zoo" with tanks, helicopters, airplanes, old military trucks, motorcycles, and guns..... all things you would find on a military base. It was basically a little boys dream land. They got to climb on everything, sit in or on everything, and pretend to fly anything that was there.
Despite the fact that Brayden had a pretty bad migraine that day, he still really wanted to go and see all the airplanes and tanks, so he did, and he loved it, even though he was feeling pretty horrible. Conner and Landon had a blast too.

Here are some of the cool things we saw...

Some really huge guns that move all over... they were seriously HUGE!

Some old military trucks....

Some very cool helicopters....

Lots of very cool tanks. I was however surprised at just how small they are on the inside. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be to sit in those small spaces, in uniform, in the heat of the desert where our troops are fighting, with gear and several other people. Not my idea of fun!

More tanks, helicopters, some cool looking motorcycles....

And some big ol' guns and the cockpits of fighter jets. By the way... cockpits are incredibly small too, you can definitely not be claustrophobic to be a fighter pilot!

It was stinking HOT that day, even though we went at 8 in the morning, so after a hour of running around playing and climbing in and on everything, we finished out tour of the "petting zoo" with a Krispie Kreme donut from our tour guides. It was such a great scout activity. We all had a great time.
